His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently approved the transformative new master plan for Expo City Dubai, marking a major milestone in Dubai’s path toward sustainable and economic development. Located near Al Maktoum International Airport and Jebel Ali Port, Expo City Dubai is designed as a dynamic center for trade, logistics, technology, and tourism, with the goal of positioning Dubai as a global leader.

Key to the 2040 Urban Master Plan and Dubai Economic Agenda D33, Expo City will host more than 35,000 residents and 40,000 professionals, promoting sustainable living and economic growth. The site includes strategic landmarks such as the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), the new headquarters for DP World, and Emirates Group’s Ebdaa aviation innovation hub. These facilities enhance Dubai’s connectivity, establishing it as a central hub for business, events, and international collaboration.

The master plan showcases five distinctive districts, each designed with sustainable infrastructure and an advanced smart transportation network. Expo Hills will feature a low-density residential community, while Expo Fields will emphasize health and recreation with schools, sports facilities, and performance spaces. Expo Downtown will expand from the metro station and will include iconic landmarks like the Al Wasl Dome and Terra Tower, with offices, luxury hospitality, and floating gardens, enhancing the area’s urban appeal.

Aiming for Net Zero by 2050, Expo City Dubai will set new benchmarks in sustainable urban living, with key performance metrics focused on biodiversity, economic growth, energy use, and resident wellness. The phased development approach ensures adaptability, enabling Expo City to evolve and maintain its role as a vital enabler of Dubai’s vision for a prosperous, sustainable future.
